Barcelona Airport BCN
Barcelona Airport has the International code of BCN and is the
largest in Catalonia and is Spain's second largest after Madrid
Barajas Airport. The airport mainly caters to domestic flights as
well as European destinations.
A new terminal is being added to the south of the airport and
is expected to be ready by mid 2009.
Services at El Prat
If you're delayed at the airport for a few hours, you can visit the
exhibition centre where there are interesting items on display. Children
can play in one of the play areas at the airport or else you can grab
a bite at one of the many restaurants or you can shop.
Getting to Barcelona Airport
There is a huge taxi stand outside the building, and you can get your
hotel via a taxi. There are buses from the airport every 15 minutes.
This is fine if you are only visiting the city but we recommend renting a
car while visiting Barcelona.
You can reach the airport via train as well, trains that leave Barcelona Sants
station to the airport every 30 minutes and the duration is just 20 minutes.
The Transports Metropolitans de Barcelona is a public bus that runs on line 46
every 25 minutes from the Placa Espanya. The distance from the Terminal A to
Terminal B at the Barcelona Airport is just a 5 minutes walk and you really
do not need to use the shuttle.
